Do you use ice baths to help recover after long runs?

  • Ltheorin
I used to take more ice baths after long run (anything over 18) but I've noticed that my body recovers better now and I'm not as sore and the pain caused from an ice bath is no longer worth. If you're super sore after a 20 miler I would highly recommend it. I've also found that hot epsom salt baths a few hours after finishing a tough workout can really ease muscle soreness as well. (and they're much more enjoyable.
  • I love ice baths in the warmer months, but can't typically make the plunge in the colder months. They are great for recovery, but make sure you don't hop in a hot shower after the ice bath and negate the benefits. :)
